Lemonile was manufactured by the dehydration of citral oxime obtained by the reaction of hydroxylamine sulfuride and citral abstracted from litsea cubeba oil.

Litsea cubeba oil reacted with hydroxylamine sulfate to give citral oxime,which by dehydration with acetic anhydride in the presence of phase transfer catalyst gave lemonile.
